Getting ready for your portrait session is exciting, but it can also be nerve-wracking if you’re not sure what to expect. That’s why I’ve put together some simple tips to help you feel confident, prepared, and ready to shine in front of the camera. Whether this is your first portrait session or you’ve done it before, these steps will ensure that you have the best possible experience.
1. Choose the Right Outfits
Your outfit plays a big role in how you feel and look in your portraits. Select clothing that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Solid colors often work best, as they don’t distract from your face, but feel free to incorporate textures and layers for added depth. Avoid busy patterns or logos, as they can detract from the overall look. If you’re not sure what to wear, I can help you decide during our pre-session consultation.
2. Bring a Few Outfit Options
It’s always a good idea to bring a couple of outfit changes so we can capture a variety of looks. Depending on the session, I might suggest different styles—whether it’s casual, professional, or something in between. For example, a headshot session might require one professional look, while a family portrait could be more casual and fun.

4. Rest and Hydrate
The best "filter" is a good night’s sleep. Arriving refreshed and hydrated ensures your eyes are bright and your energy is high. A quick morning routine helps you feel centered before stepping into the studio.

5. Pack the Essentials
Bring along any meaningful accessories, such as a favorite watch or heirloom jewelry. If we are doing a branding session, feel free to bring items that represent your work (like a laptop or notebook) to add a personal, professional touch. contact me to book your session today!
